Only in Boston
I spent a week and a half in Massachusetts with family. Not too bad, but a little stressful whenever I had any dealings with Kristel and Rachel. I did a lot of research on Ancestry.com with my dad. Went to Boston to get some info on my maternal great grandmother. When I was leaving Boston, I saw the sign to the left... Only in Boston would there be a sign saying Wicked High Tides!
Now I'm back at school and trying to decorate for Christmas. Talk about stressful!

Fall Colors

Me and Rachel
I was a little busy yesterday, so this is actually about yesterday, not today.
OK for all those people that say we don't have  seasons... LOOK at the Leaves!! What beautiful color.
Me and Rachel, together for 5 minutes and not fighting..
Hiyah is out for the second beer of the morning by 7:30 AM. No slowing down due to the death in the "family" (the downstairs boarding house man that died). I never did see anything in the paper about the dude. Guess he wasn't that important....

Wednesday November 16 2011

Well, much quieter in the hood today. Yesterday was pretty wild. All those police cars kept the worst of the hoodkins away. Around 7 PM, Bill was walking the dog in the alley and he was stopped by a cop- you are not supposed to walk in the alley unless it is the one behind your house. Bill turned the tables on the cop and asked him, so what happened with the dead guy in the house across the street. The cop said, he didn't know, but was now intrigued. He looked it up on the computer and said- you didn't hear it from me, but it was natural causes... In this neighborhood, that could be anything from an OD to a bullet...Ha Ha!

Hiyah says Hi
**Breaking news
Don't quite know what is going on, but we have 3 cruisers and 5 cops across the street. here, Hiyah says Hi to the officer that just came out of the alley. You couldn't pay me to walk in the urine infested alley. Unbelievably, Hiyah had walked across the street and just came back with a  "brown bag" and was sitting on the porch before this photo...Doesn't look the cop wants to get too close to Hiyah...
BREAKING NEWS:
It was a dead person in the house! Too late for the ambulance.
Too bad it wasn't Hiyah!

What a pile of crap
How disgusting! While walking Chip this AM, I saw this large pile of crap- includes clothes, hangers, and even an old dresser (with a hole punched in the back). While I was taking a picture, "Shorty" walked over. He said it all belonged to a guy that lived upstairs (at the scumbag rooming house) who had his foot amputated. The guy asked his nephew to clean out his room and this is how he did it.
Also, in the foreground, is some cement and wood from Dirty South Records expansion. There is a red Stop Work order sign on the building, but it didn't seem to stop them from working yesterday. We heard banging in there again....

Friday November 11 2011 Veterans Day

Graffiti on Jefferson St

Vets day street walker

Just before the tonsillectomy

Well, it has been a week from hell. I had migraine headaches from Sunday until Wednesday. Plus, on Tuesday, Rachel had her tonsils out. It was a VERY stressful day there. She bitched and moaned it was taking too long and actually wanted to get up out of the hospital bed and go home. She played with the I-Pad for about an hour. Finally, the deed was done. She has been miserable and in a lot of pain, but not enough to stay home and fully recuperate. Last night she stayed out all frigging night at a party!
Today is Veterans Day. On the left side, there is some guy that looks like he is jonesing. He has been hanging out on Jefferson Street between 34 and 35th since at least 7 this AM (it's now 3 PM). There is a streetwalker hanging out there walking on the right side IN the street. It is a bit cool out there, most in the 'hood are wearing jackets and hoods, but she is wearing no jacket, short sleeves and tight ass pants...
This graffiti appeared on Saturday night. Don't know what the hell it says... Can't make your point if no one can read it, knucklehead.

Saturday November 5 2011

Today is the Rock 'n Roll Marathon in Savannah. I can actually hear music from Forsyth Park from my house. There are 20 something stages set up around the city. When I was walking the dogs at 7 AM (it was still fairly dark), I could hear PA systems and sirens. The band "The Train Wrecks" started playing at Forsyth Park at 8:30 AM!
Start of the race

On an interesting note, Bill got something in the mail today. A permit to carry his pistol! How exciting!

Friday November 4 2011 A Tale of Two Apples

A Tale of Two Apples.
My sister and I both have Apple I-phones. I bought the I phone 4 in mid August 2011. She bought I phone 4S,(that's with Siri), when it was released a couple of weeks ago. She had a minor issue or two, went into the Apple store in Augusta, that's maybe 10 miles at the most from her house. She had fantastic service. She raved about the reps taking the time to teach her a few things, like shutting down apps to save battery power. Then, there's me.

The battery in my phone has a problem. On Saturday night, the phone was charging for 8 hours. I picked up the phone off the charger on Sunday AM to go walk the dog. I never walk around the hood without the phone. I went to take a picture of some trash, and the battery was dead. Not dying, dead. There was a picture of a little electric plug. That was it. What the hell? I charged it with a different charger. Nothing happened. I then used a car charger. It finally started charging a little bit. It never got out of the red zone. I went online to Apple. I have full coverage at this point. I put in a claim. All day on Sunday, the phone would not hardly charge out of the red zone. On Monday, I got it to 30+% power. I couldn't go online with it, but I could make phone calls. On Tuesday afternoon, I called Apple about my claim.
The rep on the phone was OK. But the news sucked. He said I could send the phone to Apple- it would cost me $29.95 and I would be without the phone for 15 BUSINESS days. WTF? Or, I could let them put some exorbitant hold on my credit card- (REALLY? what credit do I have these days?) and they would express me out a phone and then I send them back mine. They would charge me if I did something to the phone or what ever. Option 3, I could drive to Apple store- Hmmm. Closest ones to me- Augusta, GA - 2 1/2+ hours away, Charleston, SC 2 1/4 hours away... So, I make an appointment to go to Charleston, SC on Thursday at 11 AM.
I get there on time, not greeted at the door, I see the "Genius" counter at the back of the store. I stand there for a bit then finally I get checked in.
The rep hooks up my phone to a computer and says, there is nothing wrong with the battery. By now, I've gotten the charge up to almost 50% but I haven't used it at all for 3 days. The battery usage shows on a chart on his computer. While my phone showed the red zone, and NO zone on Sunday, the computer showed about 40% power on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, but NO data for Sunday. I said, there, that's the day with no power. He says, do I know how to shut off apps that are running to conserve battery power? I said No. He does something and says there is nothing more he can do for me. He doesn't show me how to do anything. "Since you drove all the way here, why don't you spend a little time here in downtown Charleston. Come back in an hour and see if the phone has significantly less power". Then he can do something. I have spent about 2 minutes with the rep after driving almost 2 1/2 hours ONE WAY.

So, I guess, it is location, location, location. Apple Store in Charleston SC SUCKS.

Tuesday November 1 2011

On Sunday- 2 scarecrows
On Monday- on 1 scarecrow

All of October, I had 2 scarecrows, a regular scarecrow and a witch with a broom. Then, on Sunday afternoon, Bill saw some dude walking away with something, but he wasn't sure what it was. All he could see was a broom. Bill kept watching the dude, because he was acting suspicious, but he couldn't figure out what was wrong. Well, it wasn't just a broom, it was my witch scarecrow on a broom. People will steal anything. What an a-hole.

The first trick or treaters showed up a little after 5:30. Last ones were about 8:30. I gave out nearly every bit of the $25 in candy we bought!

Damned if Rachel didn't wake up on Monday with a sore throat and swollen tonsils. She slept all day but still went out in a costume around 8 PM!
