Shooters
Unfortunately, it is warm out this December 31st, so the scumbags are all out there. I watched 2 guys at Dirty South Records take pistols out of their pants and shoot them in the air. Then they ran around picking up the shell casings. Nice. As soon as they fired, then someone fired at the BP station and then someone else either in the 400 block of 35th or 36th streets. It was unreal. Bill called 9-1-1 at 9 PM. I called around 10:30. The police have been running around like crazy here. Bill and I are NOT going out. We will stay in and hunker down...I did get some of this on video including Hiyah coming out to see who was doing the shooting. Probably his old lady sent him out... He didn't hang out with them. Guess he is smart enough to know that it isn't a good place to be standing.

It looks so festive on Broughton

Hiyah and a friend hang
The other morning I took this picture of Broughton Street. It looked so festive with the trees lit up and the garlands across the street.
This morning, Hiyah was just hanging with the guys. I guess there is no work to do?
It was almost noon by the time I was able to get Rachel up and get her and the car to Pep Boys for brakes. The damn thing is metal on metal. She has to be at work at 4 today, so it is a matter of a rush job. She did ask for tomorrow off, and so I'm sure she is planning on partying. She better not be drinking and driving. That is a dead end.

Thursday December 29 2011

Well, Rachel finally got her i-phone today. From the time I took it out of the box until it was hooked up to Verizon, was only about 10 minutes. Pretty good. Last night, I heard back from the guy that sold me the other i phone that can't be turned on. Jerk. Said he was sorry and he was out of town and that was why he didn't get all my messages until yesterday. Didn't have a real good reason for the phone not working. Anyways, I'll be sending that one back...
Rachel was suppose to be off work today but switched with someone so she could get a few hours (and bucks). The shift was noon to 4. I dropped the phone off to her at work around 1:30. By 5, she still wasn't home. I called her and she said she was still working! She came in just after 9 PM. Said she worked 9 hours (in a ROW)!!! WOW!!! She came in with a bag from Outback (where she works). She ate something, got changed, and was out the door again in record time. Her buddy Jill is back in town after spending most of the school vacation in San Diego. I probably won't see her tonight...

Boxing Day 2011

No, that doesn't mean we are watching a boxing match, Boxing Day is a bank holiday and day servants got presents in Great Britain. Last night again, I heard gun shots at 11:00 PM. I don't know what is going on out there. I had just come in from walking the dogs and I didn't see a soul out there.

I went to WalMart this morning to pick up some pictures that I ordered online. I had thought the place was going to be mobbed, but it wasn't.  But, that was a double edged sword, as it meant there were not many associates working either. I went to the Photo Lab in the back of the store. I went to the kiosk that rings up electronics purchases and asked the associate, where do I pick up prints ordered online. She pointed to the back wall next to the rest rooms. I went to the register and no one was there. I waited a minute or two. Then I went back and asked if the woman could call someone to help me as there was no one in photo. She said she would. I went back and waited, and waited. I heard no announcement.
I went back to the other woman who was now on the register. I asked if the first associate had called for someone to assist me in photo pickup. She didn't know. So... I told her, do you mind if I make my own announcement? She looked a little shocked. I then took a deep breath and said "Attention, I am in the photo department and I need assistance."  3 management people came hustling back to help me. I was told that my voice carried all the way to the front of the store from the back wall. I was so proud. I was out of there in seconds flat with my pictures. Rachel would have died of embarrassment...

Christmas Eve cont. and Christmas Day 2011

Somebody's going to JAIL
I had thought it was going to be Silent Night for Christmas Eve, but no such luck. There was a lot of racket on the corner and I looked outside to see 4 cruisers and a paddy wagon (Prisoner Transport). Somebody's Christmas just got wrecked.
At 12:30 AM, we heard 2 gunshots. No police sirens, no ambulances. Just another NOT so Silent Night.

Christmas Morning. Awww, Doesn't Hiyah look festive with his beer and friends on Christmas Day!

Hiyah in Red and White

What a terrible gift
WOW, I ordered this I-Phone 4 on Ebay for Rachel. The scumbag that sold it said it could be hooked up to Verizon, no problem. What a liar and probably a thief. The original owner hasn't de-authorized the phone, so it can't be turned on. Nice. She got an Otter Box (cover for the I-Phone), a clip to put the phone on a vent in her car so she can talk without holding the phone, headphones and speakers for the phone and an I-Phone alarm clock dock for Christmas. AND A NON-WORKING I-PHONE. I called up Ebay and PayPal, the seller has had his phone disconnected. NICE.

Christmas Eve, 2011

First thing in the morning
What is going on?

What ?
Well, it has started off very interestingly this morning. I walked out side to be greeted by 3 police cars in front of and beside David's Crabs. Not sure what the problem was but at least one officer was talking to someone across the street. Around 2 PM, I heard a loud bang. Ran out to see 2 cars stopped on Montgomery Street in the travel lane in front of Dirty South Records. One had the horn beeping over and over again. A crowd was gathering and then the police showed up. Montgomery Street was blocked off by the police for about an hour. Hmmm. On Broughton Street, the Hot Doggery got their alcohol license... Whoppee! Free Beer!

NO, you would not see this in Mass.

Tuesday December 20 2011

hit n run
Remember the hit 'n run from Friday night, well we didn't notice right away, but Rachel's car was hit. She was parked the wrong way on 35th Street Friday night. The white paint and the dents in the fender are from the white PT cruiser.... I'll have to call the police. As for the possible additional damage to the driver's door, No Rachel, that dent has been there. I matched it up with the photo.
OK, now be prepared for a BIG laugh... Several months ago, Rachel broke the inside door handle on the driver's door. She believes she can superglue it back together. She asked her friend Steven for some superglue. Then, she lost the superglue. Now be prepared, this is the funny part.... She found the superglue yesterday. It was in the back pocket of the pants she was wearing... It broke. Her pants were SUPERGLUED to her ass!!! Ha Ha Ha!

Sunday morning trash

Sunday, no scumbags!

trash in front of my house
On Sunday morning, I went out and saw a bunch of trash in front of my house and all the way to the corner. Poor old Hiyah was really busy sweeping it all up. Savannah decided to start Sunday liquor sales on this Sunday instead of waiting until after the first of the year. I guess the scumbags didn't read the paper, 'cause no one was out there drinking!
Rachel called me at 6 PM. She thinks someone has hit her driver's side door again. I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if it looks any different.  I looked at it at 7 PM when she came home, but I couldn't tell if there is any additional damage...

Saturday December 17 2011

Well last night was another typical Friday crack and crabs night along with a Crash! It was quite busy out there, with cars and people hanging on the corners. Then about 6 pm, I heard a crash and tires squealing. I ran to look outside in time to see a PT Cruiser (off white), fish tailing down w. 35th and take a right on to Jefferson. Then I looked at the crowd of people and sure enough, the P T Cruiser had hit a truck on the corner. I didn't get the license plate but I heard someone say they did. Still, I doubt they catch the jerk. Too bad the police didn't have one of those cameras installed at the intersection. Oh well....Then, it turns out, Rachel's car had been hit. Damn. It doesn't look too bad.

Cracked sidewalk
This morning when Chip and I were walking down the street, I noticed  the sidewalk was very much broken at the corner of Jefferson Street. It looks like somebody drove over the corner. The concrete actually moved under my feet (the triangle). It was a little unnerving since there is a large sewer drain right there. I called 3-1-1, the city number to report problems. Let's hope it will be fixed soon.
Also, I reported all the damn TRASH that is piled up in the alley. Someone appears to be cleaning out a house on 34th Street and has put all the stuff in the alley instead of paying for a dumpster. This stuff is now starting to creep into the roadway making it difficult for cars or Bill's big truck, to get down there.

What a bunch of crap

Monday December 12 2011

Rachel came in and said the Brake Light on the dash is on. And the brakes are making noises. How wonderful. Told her she needs to save some money, it will costs hundreds to fix the brakes. She still owes the mechanic $75 for the other repairs that he did. She said she is saving money for Christmas presents. Since she didn't even give me a frigging card for my birthday, I'm sure I won't be getting a gift.

Wednesday December 7 2011

Just take up the whole road

Suspicious
I went to get something for the dogs and when I came back home, the whole intersection at 35th and Montgomery was blocked. This big SUV is parked on the wrong side of the road, the silver car is parked in the middle of the street, and the black car across the street has its doors open. When I took out the phone and took a picture, they scattered like RATS. Hmmm.
I took the dogs for a walk around 2, and saw 3 men rummaging through a dumpster and walking on the porch of a condemned house on 36th street. One of them actually took a chair off the porch and was walking away.  That was strange.
Now, at 4:30 PM, these 2 young girls showed up and end up on the porch of the rooming house. The white guy that hangs over there occasionally (and is usually VERY drunk) is now driving this fairly new Toyota Versa parked in front of my house. He was putting his arms around the 2 girls. This is all very suspicious.

Sunday December 4 2011

cake tossing
Why would someone buy a cake and then toss it on the ground in front of a vacant house? I can't understand this for the life of me. There are also several beer bottles and a few little nips on the empty lot on West 36th Street. This is such a nice looking street. It is too bad about the scum that likes to hang here.
This morning I saw a hawk sitting on the telephone pole in front of our house. He sat there a good 5 minutes. Maybe he smells death nearby. Hope, hope.
Early Saturday, around 2 AM, I heard at least 5 gunshots. I looked outside but saw nothing. A few minutes later I heard sirens. They did not seem to be stopping near here. Guess people were just working things out.
OH, and Friday night Rachel called me on the way home from work. "You know how that thing on the dash that has H and C is usually in the middle? Well it is all the way in the .... (holding my breath as she paused) Cold."  Oh thank GOD! Yes Rachel, that is to be expected when it is COLD outside...

Hiyah and friends in the cold
Bit nippy out there this morning. Around 40+/- degrees first thing this morning, but Hiyah and company are tough.
What I can't understand is what are grown men doing hanging out on a street corner at 8:30 AM? Shouldn't they be working, or looking for work? I realize the economy is tough but still. All these guys just hanging. It's ridiculous, don't ya think?

Only in Boston
I spent a week and a half in Massachusetts with family. Not too bad, but a little stressful whenever I had any dealings with Kristel and Rachel. I did a lot of research on Ancestry.com with my dad. Went to Boston to get some info on my maternal great grandmother. When I was leaving Boston, I saw the sign to the left... Only in Boston would there be a sign saying Wicked High Tides!
Now I'm back at school and trying to decorate for Christmas. Talk about stressful!

Fall Colors

Me and Rachel
I was a little busy yesterday, so this is actually about yesterday, not today.
OK for all those people that say we don't have  seasons... LOOK at the Leaves!! What beautiful color.
Me and Rachel, together for 5 minutes and not fighting..
Hiyah is out for the second beer of the morning by 7:30 AM. No slowing down due to the death in the "family" (the downstairs boarding house man that died). I never did see anything in the paper about the dude. Guess he wasn't that important....

Wednesday November 16 2011

Well, much quieter in the hood today. Yesterday was pretty wild. All those police cars kept the worst of the hoodkins away. Around 7 PM, Bill was walking the dog in the alley and he was stopped by a cop- you are not supposed to walk in the alley unless it is the one behind your house. Bill turned the tables on the cop and asked him, so what happened with the dead guy in the house across the street. The cop said, he didn't know, but was now intrigued. He looked it up on the computer and said- you didn't hear it from me, but it was natural causes... In this neighborhood, that could be anything from an OD to a bullet...Ha Ha!

Hiyah says Hi
**Breaking news
Don't quite know what is going on, but we have 3 cruisers and 5 cops across the street. here, Hiyah says Hi to the officer that just came out of the alley. You couldn't pay me to walk in the urine infested alley. Unbelievably, Hiyah had walked across the street and just came back with a  "brown bag" and was sitting on the porch before this photo...Doesn't look the cop wants to get too close to Hiyah...
BREAKING NEWS:
It was a dead person in the house! Too late for the ambulance.
Too bad it wasn't Hiyah!

What a pile of crap
How disgusting! While walking Chip this AM, I saw this large pile of crap- includes clothes, hangers, and even an old dresser (with a hole punched in the back). While I was taking a picture, "Shorty" walked over. He said it all belonged to a guy that lived upstairs (at the scumbag rooming house) who had his foot amputated. The guy asked his nephew to clean out his room and this is how he did it.
Also, in the foreground, is some cement and wood from Dirty South Records expansion. There is a red Stop Work order sign on the building, but it didn't seem to stop them from working yesterday. We heard banging in there again....

Friday November 11 2011 Veterans Day

Graffiti on Jefferson St

Vets day street walker

Just before the tonsillectomy

Well, it has been a week from hell. I had migraine headaches from Sunday until Wednesday. Plus, on Tuesday, Rachel had her tonsils out. It was a VERY stressful day there. She bitched and moaned it was taking too long and actually wanted to get up out of the hospital bed and go home. She played with the I-Pad for about an hour. Finally, the deed was done. She has been miserable and in a lot of pain, but not enough to stay home and fully recuperate. Last night she stayed out all frigging night at a party!
Today is Veterans Day. On the left side, there is some guy that looks like he is jonesing. He has been hanging out on Jefferson Street between 34 and 35th since at least 7 this AM (it's now 3 PM). There is a streetwalker hanging out there walking on the right side IN the street. It is a bit cool out there, most in the 'hood are wearing jackets and hoods, but she is wearing no jacket, short sleeves and tight ass pants...
This graffiti appeared on Saturday night. Don't know what the hell it says... Can't make your point if no one can read it, knucklehead.

Saturday November 5 2011

Today is the Rock 'n Roll Marathon in Savannah. I can actually hear music from Forsyth Park from my house. There are 20 something stages set up around the city. When I was walking the dogs at 7 AM (it was still fairly dark), I could hear PA systems and sirens. The band "The Train Wrecks" started playing at Forsyth Park at 8:30 AM!
Start of the race

On an interesting note, Bill got something in the mail today. A permit to carry his pistol! How exciting!

Friday November 4 2011 A Tale of Two Apples

A Tale of Two Apples.
My sister and I both have Apple I-phones. I bought the I phone 4 in mid August 2011. She bought I phone 4S,(that's with Siri), when it was released a couple of weeks ago. She had a minor issue or two, went into the Apple store in Augusta, that's maybe 10 miles at the most from her house. She had fantastic service. She raved about the reps taking the time to teach her a few things, like shutting down apps to save battery power. Then, there's me.

The battery in my phone has a problem. On Saturday night, the phone was charging for 8 hours. I picked up the phone off the charger on Sunday AM to go walk the dog. I never walk around the hood without the phone. I went to take a picture of some trash, and the battery was dead. Not dying, dead. There was a picture of a little electric plug. That was it. What the hell? I charged it with a different charger. Nothing happened. I then used a car charger. It finally started charging a little bit. It never got out of the red zone. I went online to Apple. I have full coverage at this point. I put in a claim. All day on Sunday, the phone would not hardly charge out of the red zone. On Monday, I got it to 30+% power. I couldn't go online with it, but I could make phone calls. On Tuesday afternoon, I called Apple about my claim.
The rep on the phone was OK. But the news sucked. He said I could send the phone to Apple- it would cost me $29.95 and I would be without the phone for 15 BUSINESS days. WTF? Or, I could let them put some exorbitant hold on my credit card- (REALLY? what credit do I have these days?) and they would express me out a phone and then I send them back mine. They would charge me if I did something to the phone or what ever. Option 3, I could drive to Apple store- Hmmm. Closest ones to me- Augusta, GA - 2 1/2+ hours away, Charleston, SC 2 1/4 hours away... So, I make an appointment to go to Charleston, SC on Thursday at 11 AM.
I get there on time, not greeted at the door, I see the "Genius" counter at the back of the store. I stand there for a bit then finally I get checked in.
The rep hooks up my phone to a computer and says, there is nothing wrong with the battery. By now, I've gotten the charge up to almost 50% but I haven't used it at all for 3 days. The battery usage shows on a chart on his computer. While my phone showed the red zone, and NO zone on Sunday, the computer showed about 40% power on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, but NO data for Sunday. I said, there, that's the day with no power. He says, do I know how to shut off apps that are running to conserve battery power? I said No. He does something and says there is nothing more he can do for me. He doesn't show me how to do anything. "Since you drove all the way here, why don't you spend a little time here in downtown Charleston. Come back in an hour and see if the phone has significantly less power". Then he can do something. I have spent about 2 minutes with the rep after driving almost 2 1/2 hours ONE WAY.

So, I guess, it is location, location, location. Apple Store in Charleston SC SUCKS.

Tuesday November 1 2011

On Sunday- 2 scarecrows
On Monday- on 1 scarecrow

All of October, I had 2 scarecrows, a regular scarecrow and a witch with a broom. Then, on Sunday afternoon, Bill saw some dude walking away with something, but he wasn't sure what it was. All he could see was a broom. Bill kept watching the dude, because he was acting suspicious, but he couldn't figure out what was wrong. Well, it wasn't just a broom, it was my witch scarecrow on a broom. People will steal anything. What an a-hole.

The first trick or treaters showed up a little after 5:30. Last ones were about 8:30. I gave out nearly every bit of the $25 in candy we bought!

Damned if Rachel didn't wake up on Monday with a sore throat and swollen tonsils. She slept all day but still went out in a costume around 8 PM!

Hiyah on Sunday, just hanging out
There's Hiyah, in the khaki pants. He's been hiding out a bit from me. I've seen him on Montgomery over by 34th Street. Today it's sad because the liquor stores are closed. Just a few friends hanging out with Hiyah. Oh well, don't fret. Montgomery Liquors will be open on Monday around 6 AM. Hopefully the DT's won't hit...

Saturday October 29 2011

the crowd celebrates
Today was Savannah State University homecoming parade. It was over a block away and started at 9 AM, but here they are at noon time, celebrating. Getting drunker and louder. The token white guy is over there, too. He shows up whenever there's a big party going on over there. There must be some kind of grapevine that these guys hear about these things. I didn't even know about the parade until yesterday when a girl up at Starbucks told me about it. Nothing in the Savannah Morning News about it...

I went to the neighborhood watch meeting for my 'hood. We were told a few stats- like 33,000+ people live in the 7.62 square miles that encompasses the area the Bull Street Precinct covers. But that doesn't include the transients, homeless and students. There has to be 20+ homeless hanging out at the Thomas Square next to the Bull Street Library in the mornings. And that is just one square.  One thing that was said, that a lot of the crimes around here occur during the day. Who woulda thunk?  And that a just this morning, at 7 AM, there was a robbery on E. 38th Street. Gotta get a gun...

Thursday October 27 2011

It has been a rough couple of days. Rachel's car was diagnosed with needing a starter. It wasn't in stock but Dave got it in yesterday AM. After installing the starter, Scott did some welding on the truck hinge and got the thing to close. So, she got her car back late yesterday. Did she ask how much? Did she say thank you? HELL NO. Bitch just took off and left me there to deal with the bill. It was $300. Damn. Between her insurance of $80 a  month and now $300 for these repairs, there goes 2 full weeks of my unemployment. And then, she had the balls to say she wasn't paying the $27.95 for the tire to be mounted/balanced last week because if I had brought the wheel to the junkyard, he would have mounted it for free. What the hell? She hit a curb and bent the frigging wheel. It would not have held the tire if Scott hadn't hit it with a rubber mallet. The balancing was needed as it was hit. What an ass.

I guess the people up at the building department don't want to do their job. I called on Friday to say that Dirty South had built an addition to the store and did not have permits. This is Thursday and nothing has been done.  This town really sucks. I called again and they said it was on the list of things to check out..Yeah.

I also dropped off ANOTHER application to the county for another frigging job. It is so lame. The first page of the application has your date of birth and year graduated from high school. Since I'm over 50, that is a huge red flag. Plus, they have you fill out a form stating race and sex. I'm never going to be hired as long as I have to fill these forms out. It is so prejudicial.

Monday October 25 2011

Rachel's broken hair

Red makeup in the sink
Ah, the adventures of Rachel's first car continue.... On Sunday around 7 PM, she was at Parker's Gas station on Victory and ... the beast would not start. She called me, but I don't have any jumper cables. She called a friend, he tried to jump it, it wouldn't start. Damn. I called the Auto Club and got it towed to Dave's shop- Two Nuts and a Bolt. Yesterday, went by and Dave said, Yup, the starter is gone. Then we looked at the trunk. Why won't it close? Well, Dave noticed that the hinge on the left side was pushed in. The metal had actually broken. Nice. This afternoon, at 1, the part was still not in. Rachel will be pissed.

Yesterday after I picked up Rachel from school, Bill called her on the phone, angry. Seems she had made a mess of the bathroom. What do you think? Rachel said she didn't see anything. I know kids have selective hearing, but I guess Rachel has selective vision as well?

Saturday, October 22, 2011

Saturday October 22 2011

So, how much did the curbing of the tire cost? I got a deal from a used tire place- he wanted $40 for a nice used tire, but I talked him down to $30. Then it was $27.95 to have it mounted and balanced at Savannah Tire. Then, Rachel did manage to drive the car on the donut to Savannah Tire and have them put the tire on. I know I didn't feel like putting it on the car and I just don't think it is safe for her to be driving the car with a donut spare on the front.
As of last week, Rachel owed me $195 for car repairs and a cell phone. She paid me $40 this week, but now she is $58 more in the hole. This car is truly a money pit!

On a fun note, went to Golden Corral for dinner last night. They have a truly awesome chocolate fountain. Damn, it was good! They had strawberries, pineapple, marshmallows, and my fav, coconut macaroons. OMG! It was the best.

This morning, I was taking Chip for a walk and saw the neighbor had this elaborate set up for his ladder to work on his house. I don't know, but I'd have to say it isn't OSHA approved.

Golden Corral, Awesome!

What the hell?

October 21 2011

Tire from Rachel's car
Look again. Yes, that is a tire from Rachel's car. It is beat to hell. On the way to school- about 500 feet from the house- she calls and says the tire is flat. I walk over to where she is at and oh, yeah, it was flat. The tire was actually pulled away from the wheel. I told Rachel to go back to the house and get Bill to help her change the tire. There is grease all over the inside of the wheel, too. Likely, she also broke the axle on the front. This wheel is bent all to hell. Don't know if the tire shop can fix it. Waiting to hear now.
Oh, and let's not forget yesterday. At 5:45 I called her to find out where she was. She had to be at work at 6:15 and still needed to eat. She finally answered after I called about 6 times. She was on Victory Drive, " you know how the light that says Check Engine is always on, well, now the oil light is flashing on". OMG, that kid is going to drive me insane. I told her to get home now. When she got home, I checked the dipstick (the oil, not Rachel). There was 1, I repeat, ONE DROP of oil on the stick! Bill had a 1/2 quart in the shed so I put that in. I ran out to the store and picked up another quart and that made it full. It is saying something that this car is holding up under the child's abuse. I mean, it is still running!

Hiyah sweeping in front of Dirty South

Enclosing the cage
First thing this morning, Hiyah was out there sweeping the sidewalk in front of Dirty South Records. Work, Hiyah, Work!
Later in the day, Hiyah is sitting on the porch with his Old Milwaukee watching the men that are enclosing the cage at Dirty South Records. Now is Hiyah's time to watch other men at work.

Wednesday October 19 2011

Rachel asked me take her to work this afternoon. She walked across the street to her car to get her work shoes. Then I drove her to work in my car. When we were almost at Outback, she started to frantically look for her phone. Couldn't find it. She asked me to look for it when I got home. So, I did. I looked upstairs and down. Just then, she called and I told her I couldn't find it in the house and maybe she left it in her car when she got her work shoes.  I looked outside and saw Hiyah walking by Rachel's car. He looked at the car and then looked across the street at my house. I swear he had this look, like "this must be a trick, I must be on camera." When I went outside and looked at Rachel's car, there was her phone, laying on the roof of her car! Been there for at least 20 minutes. Amazing.

Trash left in the alley
Someone was doing some work on a house and stuffed some insulation and junk into plastic bags then tossed them in our alley. Nice. Instead of paying to properly dispose of their stuff, these people just toss it wherever.

This morning, Hiyah was picking up trash in front of his own place!!! WOW. He was putting the trash inside a large Old Milwaukee box......

What is new with Rachel? Well, this morning it only took 3 times for me to wake her up to go to school. She left at 7:19, school starts at 7:30 and we live 1.5 miles away... And she called me at 7:35, she had left her lunch in her car and was late. So, she decided to come home and do homework. Now she is sleeping. I guess she is studying for her blood tests at the doctor's office this afternoon!

Do you see what I see? Hiyah working!
OMG! it is Hiyah and he is working again! He is raking in front of the  Hair Acc. Store and of course, his fav, Montgomery Liquors. Keep up appearances, Hiyah.

Last night as 11 PM, some ho' was standing in the middle of Jefferson and 35th Streets. The black skin tight leggings and midriff shirt with sequins were kind of a dead give-away as well as the walking IN the street back and forth.

Over the weekend, Rachel told me her car's radio and the accessory outlet aren't working any more. The money pit is going to drive that girl into the poor house. When she has her tonsils out in 3 weeks, we'll have to put the car in the shop and see what the mechanic can do. It needs an oil change and probably a transmission filter/fluid change at the very least. Then, see if he can make the "check engine light" go out. She is thinking of moving to Mass. with her mom at Thanksgiving. In that case, she will need to make the car so it will pass inspection. Right now, it won't.
Oh, and on Saturday, as soon as I got into class, the Rachel called to tell me she had locked her keys in the car. Nice. She was on Whitemarsh Island. Too bad, I said. Class starts at 1 and gets over at 4:30. She called back later and had a friend drive her to my school to pick up the spare key which was in my wallet. Now she has the spare key, too. She will likely lose the spare key and then she will be in trouble!

Bras on Broughton

Bras on Broughton

Hiyah on right, watching men at work
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. To show support, the vendors up town are displaying "Bras on Broughton Street". Quite a display of bras! Originally, the idea was to string them across the street. With the wind and rain we have had this week, that would not have been a good idea. And some people complained. So these displays were a compromise. I think they came out well.
Good Old Hiyah, helps out his fellow man. He went to the liquor store and picked up a couple of Old Milwaukee cans and gave one to the painter (whose nickname is Shorty).
Hiyah is on the far right, watching men at work. There is another man in the alley next to them, taking a nature call.....
