Easter Sunday 2012

Chip at the Dog Park, FUN!

Happy Easter!

What the hell is that woman wearing?

Saturday morning at the Broughton Street bus stop, I saw this woman wearing gold spandex and a yellow dress. No, girl, NO. It doesn't work.

Rachel had to work this morning at 11 AM, so (thankfully) I didn't have to fill and hide Easter eggs. I recycled an old Easter basket of hers, added $15 worth of candy- to include gourmet jelly beans, a big bag of M&M's and a bunch of chocolate.
Hoppy Easter!!!

Later in the day, I took Chip to the Dog Park at Daffin Park. He gets so excited when we get there. He whines and wags his tail so hard. Chip runs around like a nut, but always ends up dropping a load. What a pain. Anyways, I let him spend close to an hour. When he came home, he collapsed. He was exhausted. I took Louise last week, but she wasn't fond of the park. I had hoped she would stretch out those long legs of hers, but she just laid down most of time.

When Chip and I were coming home, there was a man laying on the sidewalk on Jefferson Street near 35th Street. A police officer was there and I heard an ambulance coming. Not sure if he was passed out or what. Bill said he should be reminded that it is Passover not Passed Out... Ha Ha.

Thursday April 5 2012

trying to stay dry

Guests not allowed inside even when raining

DANG! Another little ACCIDENT

We had a quick heavy shower with thunder around 7 PM, but as you can see, guests are not allowed inside at the rooming house. Why would people go out of their way to hang there?

DANG! I just made up a little powerpoint demonstration as a JOKE last night about Rachel's car's BOO BOO's. Unfriggingbelievable! Another accident today. This time her friend scraped the quarter panel and back bumper with his MOM's car. Nice.

Saturday night, Blue lights

The YARD in Augusta

How sad, guest not allowed inside

See the pretty blue lights reflecting in the glass! This was the view while I was watching Cops, Savannah on Saturday night.. What a coincidence.
Yesterday morning, I saw this sleeping thing across the street on Hiyah's front porch. I guess his old lady won't let guests in. Must be why they all sit out on the porch, drink, and then urinate beside the porch. How disgusting.
Well Hey! The camera finally moved at Jones Old Cars in Augusta!!! Looky there!
Cars, cars everywhere but not a one to drive... I don't see that tractor that ran over Glen. It was like something out of a Stephen King novel- tractor started up all by itself and ran over my brother-in-law. I'd be calling it Christine and shooting the tires. I'll keep checking on the camera and call if I see "Christine" moving.

Sunday April 1 2012

Well, no April's Fools around here. Just a few fools across the street, sitting waiting for the packie to open at 12:30....Whoopie! Beer on Sunday now!
Funny thing, last night I was watching Cops on tv. It was an episode with Savannah police! Just then, we notice blue lights flashing in the living room and realized the Savannah police had 2 cruisers in front of out house. They had some guy pulled over and next thing, he was in the back of the cruiser.
The episode of Cops, why it was the same thing, except the idiot ran and then crawled under a house. But on threats of dogs, he thought better, crawled out and ended up in the back of the cruiser. All in a day's work.
Nothing happening here, either
Well, here is the webcam at my sister's house in Augusta. If anyone thought Savannah was boring, try Augusta.... Like watching grass grow. Maybe the wind will blow the ball....(Waiting....)  I guess not....

Friday March 30 2012

I am sitting at work just counting down the hours until I am out of here... This office is such a mess.
The attorney's paralegal (Kim) was supposed to show up at 9 or 9:15 to finish up that huge mess of an appeal. It is 9:30, and still no show... See the photo of the desk!
Saw Hiyah outside this AM. He was working again! But not for too long. By 8 AM he had his 40 ounce and was heading inside...

Wednesday March 28 2012

Pretty quiet in the hood since the great "police presence" last Friday. I'm still working  temp for the attorney. Yesterday, he interviewed & hired someone else while I was sitting there! WTF? He hasn't sat down with me and told me how to do a damn thing. I print off pages, type letters, use a dictaphone- which I had NEVER done, and papers just keep piling up on the desk and NOTHING goes out. He is so far behind on work because the paralegal he had working for him was telling him she was working on things, but never did them. What a joy. The girl he hired, is only getting her AS in paralegal next quarter. She has no more knowledge about what needs to be done in the office than I do. We are not legal secretaries, which is what I think he really needs. She never used a dictaphone (I asked when he left the room) and she doesn't know anything about trials. Oh well...
This morning I got a phone call from another temp agency. Putting my name into NY Life for an admin asst position that pays $16 an hour. Oh Boy!

What a dog's life!

Exhausted
This just looks wrong. The dog has taken over the couch. She looks like she passed out. Look at that tongue hanging out of her mouth. She looks like the knuckleheads across the street.

Well, speaking of the knuckleheads, while I was at work- YES I found a temp job at an attorney's office!!!- Bill was at home today. He looked outside to see a sea of white police officers and they were all over the house across the street. Then, a couple of officers talked to the landlord- Ben. Fingers were pointed and voices were raised by the officers. Then, someone was put in the cruiser and taken away. I'll be damned, it was quiet all evening....I don't know what they said to Ben, but it was obviously serious.

I guess the comment that was made by the black officer to my neighbor (which I told to the crime prevention officer)- I don't arrest family- made someone besides me mad. There was not one black officer out there.... Wouldn't want anyone to have to arrest family...

No Loitering sign
The landlord across the street had some writing painted on the house. Look- it says No Loitering!
Yeah, that's going to stop them. Last night, at 11 PM, 3 drunks were sitting there yucking it up. One kept saying " I know that M-F" at least 25 times in a frigging row. Then he got up off the porch and dropped his beer. Ha Ha!

While I was uptown this afternoon, I parked on York Street. I had never noticed this before. I saw this black Subaru sticking out in the street. I thought, what a lousy parking job. Then I realized why. These trees are growing in the street! Savannah is crazy about trees.

St Patty's Day Revisited

Hiyah- in Green
Totally forgot to put Hiyah in here! This is 8 AM on St. Pat's Day.
Here is Hiyah, doing his best impersonation of an Irishman.
Wearing the green and kicking it with a beer! He's the man!

Let sleeping dogs lie
Chip is really putting in a hard day. He looks totally wiped out. Louise got her lazy behind off the couch finally, only to lay on her nest.

I saw Hiyah working this morning! Here he is, with his back to me, sweeping the sidewalk in front of the hair accessory store and the LIQUOR store.... "nuff said there...
I saw this .... walking up town. I don't know what it is. All dressed in white with gold trim and some kind of weird headgear. Looks like some throwback to the Egyptian pyramid days.

Hiyah is sweeping the sidewalk for his beer!

Louise, on her nest

What the hell is that?

Tuesday March 13 2012

It is almost St. Patty's day. A big day (or week) in Savannah! The city has greened the fountains. The big one in Forsyth Park really attracted a lot of attention. Although Saturday is the parade, the tourists are already here. They are enjoying the fine weather and all the flowers that are bursting out.
St. Pat's Day and the Greening of the fountains

Went to Krogers and what do I see, the SKANKS are back in town. These are some disgusting looking creatures. I recognized the dog first. It's a good looking blue pit bull. Then I saw the 2 skanky girls.  They are hanging out here with about 4 guys. These are nasty looking and SMELLING creatures. I remember last spring when the showed up at Starbucks. The cop told them to "move it along." Believe me, you will smell these things before you see them.....
The SKANKS are back!

Smashed pumpkins in MARCH

Dang, we had some rain. 4+ inches on my gauge.
I couldn't believe I saw smashed pumpkins in the street in March! These gourds really have lasted a long time.
We had 4+ inches of rain this weekend. Water was everywhere. Lots of streets wre closed, Victory was under water. It was a real pain going anywhere. Still, they say we are in a drought.

I was walking Chip in the alley and my neighbor was looking at his old Datsun. He just now noticed that 3 tires and wheels were missing... I told him they have been gone for many weeks, I think months. He decided to take the one remaining wheel off so the thief wouldn't have a full set... Really?

Saw this woman waddling down 35th towards David's Crabs. Woman, look in the mirror. Do you NEED to be eating fried anything?
Stop Girl! No more fried food for you.

WOW missing 3 wheels

Friday March 2 2012

The lawyer finally removed his SUV

Happy Friday!

Hiyah making quiet

The lawyer at the end of the street finally moved his big SUV. It had 3 parking tickets on it this week...
11 AM, and someone's weekend is ruined. One cruiser drove by and then about a minute later, 4 cruisers pulled up.  The cops had one dude up against the front of the car handcuffed. Off to jail he goes.
Hiyah came walking back from the liquor store in the middle of the fracas. He sat on the porch with is 40 ounce in a brown paper bag and watched the drama unfold. He was unusually quiet....

And the adventures of Rachel's car continue.... She had gone to Auto Zone to diagnose the car getting hot before Christmas.  They said it needed a thermostat. Cost- about $20. BUT that doesn't include labor and antifreeze. We got an estimate from Pep Boys, $170 for everything. Then, yesterday I told her to bring the car to Dave. He had some clips and was able to clip the front bumper cover on the car so it  doesn't fall off. Yay!! Well, we asked Dave, how much to put in a thermostat. He said, let me look at it, maybe the fan isn't coming on or something. Turns out "something" was the real answer.. The overflow tank has a rubber hose that the radiator is supposed to suck the water out of the tank to go to the radiator. Guess what? The rubber hose was GONE. So, while the overflow tank was full, the radiator was close to empty! No water was able to go into the RADIATOR!!! Dave put in about a half gallon of antifreeze and some water and ran the engine for a few minutes to make sure it was totally full. Now the beast is running much happier and cooler!

Wednesday February 29 2012

The campaign begins
Hey, it's Leap Day- February 29th! Exactly 12 years ago today, I bought the condo at Royal Dane in Marshfield. Rachel got her own room and Kristel and Joshua were pushed out of the nest. We see how that went...

Today I began the "campaign of  shame". I put a couple of signs on telephone poles  leading into the apartment complex where one Ariana  lives. These signs are on the pole across from her building. I will keep adding signs about the "I-phone thief from Islands High School." I'm also going to put them on windshields of cars tomorrow afternoon. Then, I'll go speak to her parents maybe this weekend. I'm sure the thief's parents aren't going to do anything. Hell, it was her father that drove her somewhere after we sent messages to the phone that we were tracking it. But, if I can get the other students to say something to her, then maybe...She is not the only IHS student in the complex, but is the only one that lives in the building where the I-phone was tracked to.

Tuesday February 28 2012

Just got off the phone with my insurance company. The other girl who owns the car that Rachel's tire hit - well, she has already filed against my insurance! The bitch.
The police officer said she should get an estimate for the slight scrape (mostly rubber mark) down the side of her car and let us know. NOOOOO. She didn't say word one to us, just filed a claim.
USAA will be touch with Pep Boys legal dept and start working on the claim for the damage to the other girl's car. I'll call USAA in a couple of days to see how that is going. Then, I want to file against Pep Boys on Rachel's behalf.

Jesus Called
I've been walking around Bonaventure Cemetery looking at interesting headstones. This one is freaky. There's a telephone carved around the last name Daniels and under the deceased's name it says "Jesus Called." I'll be checking my caller ID. If I see "Jesus" I'm NOT answering...I suggest you do the same.

Friday February 24 2012

These aren't my pants!

Breakfast of Champs, 40 oz BEER

Rachel's tire flew off the car- look no lug nuts left!

Friday morning- what the hell are those pants doing draped over the sign? Perhaps someone was wearing them so low they just walked out of them and didn't realize it.
7 AM in the morning and a bunch of losers are out there drinking. Why can't they just stay at THEIR own house and drink? Just before I took this picture, the guy in the blue hat was standing next to the fence urinating. How nice.
First thing this morning, Rachel had to go to the dentist. She spent 15 minutes searching the house and her car for her make case. It is missing. She went to the dentist with a whole lotta attitude.
After coming home and taking a nap, Rachel went to the mall to pick up some more make up. When she pulled out of the mall, the car was making a "noise." Next thing, the tire flew off the car, hit another car and the hub dropped to the ground. She was pulling into Wendy's but didn't make it totally into a parking space.
She called me and I remembered that we got the oil changed on our cars on Monday and tires were rotated. So, I called Pep Boys and the man, Damien said he would call me back. Meanwhile I drove to meet up with her. Of course, Pep Boys did not call me back. I called again and said I needed lug nuts as they were all GONE. Damien said I needed to call 1-800-Pep Boys. Bite me. The kid had to be at work in an hour. So I drove to Pep Boys (it was about a mile away) and got the lug nuts. I couldn't really tighten them on her car but did the best I could. I followed her to Pep Boys. They checked and tightened all the lug nuts.
Now, how do I get something for this? Rachel wants new tires. I think that is a great idea. Pep Boys better pay for the car that Rachel's tire hit, too.
I'll talk to my teacher (a lawyer) in class tomorrow!

Thursday February 23 2012

Went to a temp agency today. Filled out lots of paperwork. Who knows? Something has got to give....
The pit bull is hanging out across the street again today with the parolees. Not quite the same as the ones on TV, but amusing none the less. There's plenty of drama, alcohol, drugs, dealers, ho's, bums, and just plain malingerers over there. Earlier, someone was singing (loudly and poorly). Now, they are just sitting out there with a few 40 ounces between them. What a life. Get up, walk to the hood, hang out. Drink, maybe do some drugs, urinate in the alley. Wow! Does it get any better than that!
Damn, I think I hear an ice cream truck out there. Can you imagine? I mean it is February but it's 85 DEGREES!
I just confirmed it, yes it IS the ice cream truck! Think I'll see if they have Italian Ice!

Wednesday February 22 2012

Wish a Happy Birthday to my brother John!
On Monday, Rachel and I had oil changes on our cars. While there, the guy that specializes in car stereos took a look at Rachel's stereo. At first, Nick said the fuse was blown. After replacing it again (I had replaced the other day), the stereo and lighter worked. Then, just as quickly, it blew the fuse again. After the third fuse, Nick checked the radio itself. The piece of crap is shorting out. The wires are a big tangle in there. Nick taped a couple of wires up for her and didn't charge us. That was nice.
So, no radio for Rachel still. We went online to Best Buy and she picked out an inexpensive radio. (She PAID for it herself, WOW!) Now she still has to pay for installation... It will need someone with nerves of steel and the ability to not blow a bunch of electrical parts of the car. In other words, an expert, not some flunky.

Rachel's room is in transition. Gone are all the pinks. I'm hoping to paint it a nice light blue in a week or so. Also, I'd like to paint the section of wall between the 2 front windows black chalkboard. I think that is so cool! I'm painting the "new" headboard today.
I put the neon pink curtains on Craigs list. Got one call, hopefully I'll sell them today.
Pit Bull and Parolees hanging out

Everybody, watch Hiyah WORK!

New Pimp in Town

Who Knew? Parade 1

Who Knew? Parade 2

This morning at 7 AM, the new pimp was out there bold as brass talking to his girls. Got to stomp this SOB out.
At 10:30 AM, I heard loud music. Looked out the window thinking some jerk was sitting in his car out front when I saw the parade. I call it the "Who Knew?" parade. There is nothing about this parade in the paper. It happens every year. It is made up of some church people, bands, fancy floats, cars and motorcycles. At the end of the parade are about 10 large buses.

Thursday February 16 2012

Pretty quiet out there today. I talked with my neighbors about the new "player" that was hanging around Jefferson and the condemned house. The neighbors assured me they will call the police if he is seen hanging out at the condemned house again.
I went to school today to learn more about Linked In. It a social networking site that is for business connections. Hopefully I'll get connected here with someone who can get me a JOB...
On the way home from there, I went up the Truman Parkway to avoid the 100's of traffic lights on Abercorn Street. (It is about 6 miles to my school and yet it took me over 20 minutes to get to school at noon time today.) So, as I said I took Truman to avoid some lights. As soon as I got on the ramp, there was a 2 police cars in the merging lane. In front of them was a black camaro. It was facing the wrong way and had some serious dents on the rear quarter panel... Don't know anything more, but I'm sure there is a story to be told...
Then when I got home, there was a helicopter hovering over the hood for at least 15 minutes. Again, not sure why...

HOLY CRAP. Anyone who thinks we are not still in a deep depression- READ THIS:
